Featured on Green Wedding Shoes
Holy molars! I am so excited to announce that our Earthy Modern Vow Renewal photo shoot was featured on Green Wedding Shoes! I was honored for the opportunity to create a photo shoot that would take place at Ghost Ranch, the historic site where Georgia O’Keefe resided and found freedom to paint what she saw and felt.
Here is a little behind the scenes of the process:
Similar to Georgia O’Keeffe, I was inspired by the magic of the air, the light, the dirt. There is a spirituality that you feel when you step onto the property. I chose an earthy palette of muted tones inspired by the striated rock formations found on the property. Quartz and pink salt crystals brought texture to the shoot and circular motifs would be woven through all of the design elements. I played with wood, earthenware ceramics and raw linens, wool fibers and leather.
I worked with Alan of SIWA Prints to create a silk screen invitation inspired from a watercolor I painted. I love the colors, the primal shapes and natural elements.
I love to show the initial inspiration sketches as I brainstorm the initial concepts along with the final product when the styling and photography come together. It is always surprising to me how true the final shoot is to the sketch!
Since the concept behind the shoot was a vow renewal, I wanted to focus on an alternative dessert other than a typical wedding cake. I worked with Kakawa Chocolate House to provide incredible handmade chocolates and cocoa drinking elixers. I wish I could have conveyed the taste through pictures. The red chile and rose caramels were TO.DIE.FOR!
We had a small but mighty team as we chased light all over Ghost Ranch. I am always thankful for the folks that allow me to explore my crazy visions and bring their incredible talents to the table to create pure magic!
Not pictured but there is spirit:
