Jenny and Matt’s wedding took place at Los Pobalnos a Historic Inn and Organic Farm. Nestled in the New Mexican river valley, this property boasts “Territorial Revival” architecture designed by John Gaw Meem, ponds filled with water lilies, roaming wild peacocks, bocce ball courts and surrounding lavender fields. It is truly a spectacular venue!
Jenny wanted to create a “French Vintage” feel for the wedding, so we chose a soft palette of blush, pale peach and dove grey, accented with a dark navy blue. Pennysmith’s paper designed a beautiful print suite with decorative vintage motifs reminiscent of early 1900’s Paris. To bring this motif to the tabletops, sourced decorative shabby chic candelabras and our florist, Amy created lush floral arrangements, spilling with peonies, local garden roses and trailing vines. The gilded deco chargers from Classic Party Rentals tied the French vintage theme together and brought a touch of sparkle to the table. During cocktail hour, guests were entertained with sounds from Le Chat Lunatique, a French Jazz Band while they sipped on champagne and Lillet cocktails infused with French Lavender simple syrup. The petite Chantilly cake was topped with a vintage bride and groom passed down from Matt’s mother.
From the bride…
One of the best moments of the day was when our wonderful photographer and wedding planner pulled us together for the first look. I was such a bundle of nerves the whole day, but as soon as I saw Matt, everything fell into place and made sense again. Until that moment, I hadn’t appreciated everything around me. Once I really looked around, I was struck by how truly beautiful the day was!
Our gorgeous venue, which was built in the 1920s, is surrounded by fields of lavender and is totally unlike anywhere else in New Mexico. Since it reminded us of the French countryside and we really wanted to highlight its romance and uniqueness, we went for all things French vintage starting with spectacular deco plate chargers and building from there. Luckily, I had an amazing wedding planner who really took the idea and ran with it – from invitations to flowers, place settings to cocktails, and our fabulous Gypsy Jazz band, Le Chat Lunatique – everything was perfectly 1920s France. But it wasn’t until I stood at the end of the aisle and really saw the full effect of our ideas that I realized how lovely it would all be.
Amy Balsters and her amazing floral design blew me away and I was swooning at the overflowing pale pink peonies and greens filling the space. When we finally got to see our tables complete with the those fantastic chargers and richly gorgeous centerpieces, I was in tears. It could not have matched my vision more perfectly or turned out so spectacularly. After a couple of Lillet and champagne cocktails, my nerves were a distant memory, and we had the time of our lives. I wish we could get married over again just to re-experience the extraordinary beauty and love of that day.
